Warm Water?

There have been reports of warm water already making it's way up toward Southern Cal. I hope to check out some of the water temp charts later this week to see if it's true of not. with all this warm weather I'm sure the local fishing is going to improve very fast.

I'll Be Offering Private Charters This Season

I just wanted to share the news that later this Spring I will start running private fishing charters on my boats. I really looking forward to getting out on the water more often and teaching people how -to fish. You can e-mail me if you'd like to get my charter rates.

I Went Lobster Fishing One Last Time

This past Tuesday I went lobster fishing with my buddy Greg and it was a very strange night. The whole day I was running late so by the time we got down to the boat ramp it was already 6 PM. We were not ready, none of the bait had been cut yet and most of it was still frozen. We had a mix of mackerel and salmon heads. The Asian store I normally buy my salmon heads has just gone out of business. The fishing was slow, very slow most of the night. It wasn't until 10 PM that we finally caught a lobster and it was too short to keep. At 11PM we finally had a legal bug in the boat. Around midnight we were ready to call it a night when we went three nets in a row with lobsters and then at 1AM I had one of the biggest lobsters I have ever seen come up, but it was on the outside of my hoop net and got a way. So we stuck it out until 2AM! We ended the night with six nice size lobsters and I'm hoping to cook up some of them this weekend.

This season I did the most lobster fishing I have ever done and have found a few new places to catch them too. I can't wait for the next season to open up in Oct.

It's Almost Over

There are only two days left in the current lobster fishing season so get out there and get the last bugs of the season, it sounds like people are getting them everywhere, I've heard good reports form San Diego to the Channel Islands, I'm hoping to get out there too before it's all over.

Also if you want to join us on a fishing charter, sign up soon, some of our trips are already sold out.

picture From Last Night

Here a picture of the largest bug we caught last night, we only got five, but two of them were this size. The weather was ugly, wind, rain and a swell, but it still was fun. I hope to get out one more time before the season comes to an end.

I hope to see you all at the Fred Hall Show this week.

Lobster Fishing Last Night

Lobster fishing last night was a little slow for us, we only landed five legals for three guys, I think part of the reasion was that we forgot the salmon heads for bait, and only use mackerel. Also last night we had ugly weather, strongs winds, light rain and I forgot my rain coat in my car. It's all part of fishing, we did get one monster lobster and I'll try to post a picture of it here soon, I did post it last night on my Twitter page.

Right now we are heading off to the Long Beach Convention center to start setting up for the Fred Hall Fishing Show, which starts this Wed. Hope to see you all there.

Going Lobster Fishing

With lobster fishing coming tom end next week, I'm going to head out one final time for this season. With the Fred Hall Show next week, there is no way I can go losbter fishing. Tonight we plan to offer up a mix of bait, i'll be mixing up mackerel with salmon heads. I'll let you know tomorrow how we did.

Saturday, March 5, 2011

Here's what I'm cooking up for dinner tonight. I plan to coat them with my fish batter mix and then drop them in a hot pan, with a little olive oil and butter. There's nothing as good as fresh fish!

Today's Surf Fishing Trip

Today's surf fishing trip was a lot of fun, It was nice just fishing for the fun of it, but the fishing was so good I really wish we would have filmed it. John caught this monster perch with a sand crab, Larry and I caught around 40 fish today, most of them on Lug Worms. There's still time to get in some fishing today!

Going Surf Fishing Tomorrow.

Tomrrow i'll be going surf fishing with my buddy Larry and we are going just for the fun of it. I know most of you think I only like to be out in the blue water fishing far off shore, but I do enjoy all types of fishing. I like surf fishing beacause it's something you can do year around and it doesn't have to cost you a lot of money to do. Tomorrow i'll be fishing with light line, usually I surf fish with 6 pound test line, but tomorrow i plan to use only only use four pound test line, I'm hoping to target surf perch, but if I hook up with something larger that's fine too. I like light line for surf fishing because you usually hook more fish, but if you hook a legal size halibut, you really have little or no chance of landing it. I hope to post some pictures tomorrow of how we did on my Face Book fan page tomorrow.

Now Offering Private Fishing Charters

Very soon I will start offering private fishing charters. Plans are to offer calico bass fishing trips to the Long Beach break water and off to Catalina Island for now, I can also offer trips to SD Bay or Newport Bay. I really am not sure of all the trips I can offer right now, first I'd like to hear from my viewers and hear where they would like me to take them fishing.
