Catalina Island

Yesterday, Larry and I filmed a show over at Catalina Island. The ride over went well even though we took my little boat, the 24 foot Skeeter handled the channel well. We started out fishing at Arrow Point, but we had no current so we drove around to the back side of the island. West Cove held a lot of fish and we filmed most of the show in that one spot. The Calicos ate both live and dead baits. It was preety wide-open for about two hours. We ended the day on the front side of the island. I was tossing thin jerk baits and crankbaits. My largest fish of the day was taken this way. We left the island around 3 PM and it only took about one hour and twenty minutes to make it back to Long Beach.

This week I have two fishing trips. Wed. is a foundation kids trip and Friday we'll be filming aboard the Freelance out of Newport.

Have a great week, Dan

Last week I was in Las Vegas for the ICAST Show. This is the largest tackle show in the industry and everyone was there to show off their products.

Penn has some great new reels coming out and Shakespeare launched my new line of fishing rods there at the show! You can order my rods from any of your local tackle shops and if you'd rather order them on- line then you can order them from Cabela's at
