Indian Rock Fishing Trip

Last Sunday we had our last trip of the year. Skipper Chris Randal took us the the finger bank area in Mexico for limits of rock fish. We had talked about fishing farther offshore in deeper water, but Chris said he knew an area closer to shore that had lots of hungry fish. It was one of our best trips of the year. Easy limits on quality rock fish, including nice size reds.

Last fishing trip for 2009

We have one last trip coming up this weekend. This fishing trip was planned for last week, but due to bad weather we had to move it to this coming weekend. We'll be fishing aboard the Indian out of H&M Landing in SD. The trip is only 95.00 PP, this will be a rock cod trip and we'll be fishing in Mexican waters for larger rock fish. Free Kids Fishing Event

Catalina Island, Bonita Fishing!

Yesterday I fished over at Catalina Island just for the fun of it in my skiff. it was wide open for Bonita, easy limits. the water was so flat I made it from the island to Long Beach harbor in 45 mins. My skiff can fly!

Great Season

Dan Hernandez Youth Foundation Kids Fishing Trip

Today my foundation took 80 kids out fishing. for all of them it was their first time ever on the ocean and for most the first time they have ever been fishing. All of the kids were great!

US MArines Fishing Trip

Yesterday we took out 25 US Marines from SDMD. For most of the guys it was their first ever fishing trip. This show will air the week before Christmas. I'd like to thank skipper Chris Randal of the Indian for donating his boat & crew for this trip. THe fish and the weather was great. most of the guys limited out on barracuda.

Today we had our youth foundation fishing trip with the LA Dodgers! the weather was perfect and the fishing was good too. we landed lots of sand dabs and sculpin. Dodger pitcher Leach was great with all the kids and enjoyed his day on the water aboard the Sea Angler. Thanks to the LA Dodgers and 22nd Street Landing for helping us put this trip together.

Lincoln Parks Kids Fishing Event

Our free kids fishing event last Saturday was a huge hit. Over 500 kids, plus their parents showed up for the event at Lincoln Park in ELA. The kids caught lots of fish and everyone had a great time. Thanks to all you who helped host this great event and to those of you who brought your kids to this event.

Gail Force Trip

Today we fished aboard the Gail Force, Our skipper Ryan took us to Catalina Island, fishing was good for calico bass and we landed a few bonita too. We have two more filming trips this month. check out our full list of charters on our website.

EAST CAPE TRIP

This week we had our annual east cape trip, fishing was a little slow offshore, but the roosterfishing was great! Everyone had great time. Next year we'll be making this trip at the end of May.

Getting ready for the East Cape, Mexico

Tomorrow I have to get everything ready for my East Cape trip on Thursday. We'll be staying at Hotel Buena Vista in the East Cape, all the reports sound great, lots for marlin and dorado, plus large schools of roosterfish too. I'll get all the camera gear together and Larry will pack all my fishing tackle. I'll try to send you reports from Mexico.

Trout Fishing Trip

Just got back from three days of fishing up in the Bishop CA area. Fishing the first day was a little slow, but the next two days were awesome. The float trip down the Owens River is something everyone should try, I caught all of my fish on the river on Gulp eggs and PowerBait worms. The best color was white, I'm not sure why, but white eggs with a white worm was by far the best bait to use. The Gulp and Power Bait out fished everyone in our group. I can't wait to get back up there.

Today Larry, Greg and I worked on my boat. We replaced the whole steering system with and new hydraulic system made by Sea Star. I can't believe what a difference it has made to my boat. We filmed the whole install for television and we plan to post them it up on You Tube too.

We had our first fishing charter of the year last Saturday. fishing was a little slow, but the weather was perfect. Calicos bit pretty good all day long. This halibut was the largest fish of the trip. Make sure to sign up soon for our next trip. Surf Fishing

Last Sunday Larry and I fished in a surf fishing event for a fishing club we belong to. We started out fishing up by Ventura but the water was dirty so we worked our way south. The fishing was slow but at Zuma beach we found nice clear water and II was able to land four perch using Gulp for bait. I ended up winning the event. It wasn't a huge fish, but large enough to win on this day. For those of you who want to go fishing and not spend a lot of money, you should try surf fishing it's a lot of fun!

Del Mar Fred Hall Show

I just wanted to thank you all you who came by our booth and said hello. Today is the last day of the show so please stop by and say hi to everyone, even my parents will be helping out again today. i also want to thanks Randy Jones from the Padres for helping us out yesterday. Late Season Lobster Fishing

I'm one of those guys who has never had much luck at lobster fishing, that was until I went out one night with Ben Hong of Promar. Ben took me out the first week of March to a spot he likes in the Santa Monica Bay. We were only out for about two hours, but we landed over 12 lobsters and seven of them were legal, plus a bunch of crabs. The only problem we had that night were the seals. The seals took our baits several times out of our nets. Other than that it was a perfect trip. Make sure you watch this show, it'll be a good one.

First Fish!

Last week i took my godson, his wife and son out fishing. The goal was to get his son his first ocean fish. We weather was good so we took my bay boat out toward the break wall and fished with cut bait. Christopher had a great day. In two hours of fishing we landed sand bass, perch and a few tomcod too. You all know I enjoy fishing and i like do all the kids work that I do with my youth foundation, but when it's someone in your family taking their kids out to get their first fish the thrill was ten fold. Christopher caught his first fish at our youth foundation event last November at El Dorado park in Long Beach. This kid is hooked on fishing for sure.

Chollas Lake Free Kids Fishing Event

This past weekend I drove to San Diego to attend a free kids fishing event hosted by Star Pal, also there was the CA Dept of Fish & Game with their Fishing in the City program. The weather was very wet but it looked like all the kids had a great time. It was a great event and everyone who worked on it should be proud. I'm hoping that next my youth foundation will be able to host a lake event in the San Diego area.

Ventura Fishing Club

Last night I spoke to 62 members of the Ventura Fishing Club. I wanted to thank them for inviting me and for the great dinner. It's always fun to talk about fishing, but the one thing that I really enjoy about this group of anglers that they too like to take kids fishing. I wish every fishing club in the country would do same thing and take a bunch of kids fishing who have never been fishing before, this world would be a better place. Thanks again for dinner last night and thanks for inviting me to speak to your club, it was lot of fun.
