Tuna Time!

I know the tuna count are only OK for now, but if you see the reports from landing up and down the coast you'll see that the tuna are everywhere. it even sounds like a 3/4 day boat out of SD got some and a boat out of Ventura got some too. Skippers are telling me that they are seeing lots of yellowfin moving up the coast toward CA. they all seem to feel it's going to be a good, but late season. We have a one tuna fishing trip this month, please visit our website at http://www.sport-fishing/ for the deatils and to sign up.

Private Charter Fishing Recap

Sunday I had a private fishing charter. I drove south and we started fishing at Izors, the water was cold and the current was screaming uphill. After an hour and only one legal bass I picked up my anchor and checked out six more spots there at the reef and none of them had enough fish on them to make me want to stop my boat, so we drove all the way back to the LB breakwater. The water was cold there too, but we managed to make a day of it. We land about a dozen nice legal sandies and a bunch of shorts and some calicos too. most of the fish were released, but my clients kept a few for fish tacos for today. If the water ever gets warmer, fishing should really get good, there is so much life out there everywhere.

Clemente Trip

last Friday we had a filming/ fishing trip aboard the Clemente, the weather was perfect and I couldn't wait to start fishing. We started out pretty far south and worked our way north toward the landing all day. Fishing was OK, nothing great, but it wasn't the crews fault, we saw fish all day long swimming under the boat, but they just weren't all that hungry. I was one of the lucky ones to land a few nice size fish. A few anglers ended the day with limits of calico bass. I'd like you all to know that this was a first class operation, everyone from the ticket office to the crew on the boat were great to work with and I can't wait to go fishing on the Clemente again. here are a few pictures from our trip.

Fishing last Sunday

Last Sunday I took a friend out fishing to wall for a few hours with his two kids, the water temp at the wall is still pretty cold, only 55 degrees. Since his little one is so young we didn't want to travel too far, so we spent all our time at one spot on the wall. There we picked away at the bass. we ended up with a half dozen sand bass, some rock fish and one bat ray. All of the fish were taken with B 52 bucktails fished with whole dead squid for bait. It wasn't a great day of fishing, but I always enjoy my time on the water.

Private Charter Report 6/29

Last Saturday I had a 1/2 day private fishing charter, I headed toward the breakwater, but the water was 57 so I took my people over to Izors, the water there was 60. I only take four people fishing on these trips, so we had a very light load, two of them had never been fishing before and the others hadn't done it in a while. The fishing there was pretty good. we had 12 legal calico's, 6 nice size sand bass and mix of rock fish tossed in. We lost something larger, but we never saw it. I saw a lot of boat come and go, nobody wanted to drop their anchor there, but we did and it paid off.

all the fish were taken on dead squid, some were fished on a dropper lop and others on my B52 bucktails.
