Yesterday we had a filming/ fishing charter with Capt. Joe aboard the Sea Star. He didn't want to head north for the White Sea Bass, because we didn't have any live squid and there would be a ton of boats up there so we headed south. We went all the way down toward Solano Beach, we only made one move all day and that was a short move too. We had a great bite on both calico bass and rock fish, we also landed a 33 pound halibut and dumped a few others, we saw a bunch a yellows in the water and i was able to hook one, but dumped it in the kelp. most of the fish on this trip were taken on dead squid, I used a 1oz B 52 bucktail with a whole dead squid for most of the day, that's what I hooked my yellow on. We also had a 150 pound black sea bass that was of course released unharmed. The water was 67 and blue. Fishing down in the North SD area is ready to exploded! Our next trip with open spots in June 10th aboard the Native Son out of long Beach.
