First Fish!

Last week i took my godson, his wife and son out fishing. The goal was to get his son his first ocean fish. We weather was good so we took my bay boat out toward the break wall and fished with cut bait. Christopher had a great day. In two hours of fishing we landed sand bass, perch and a few tomcod too. You all know I enjoy fishing and i like do all the kids work that I do with my youth foundation, but when it's someone in your family taking their kids out to get their first fish the thrill was ten fold. Christopher caught his first fish at our youth foundation event last November at El Dorado park in Long Beach. This kid is hooked on fishing for sure.

Chollas Lake Free Kids Fishing Event

This past weekend I drove to San Diego to attend a free kids fishing event hosted by Star Pal, also there was the CA Dept of Fish & Game with their Fishing in the City program. The weather was very wet but it looked like all the kids had a great time. It was a great event and everyone who worked on it should be proud. I'm hoping that next my youth foundation will be able to host a lake event in the San Diego area.

Ventura Fishing Club

Last night I spoke to 62 members of the Ventura Fishing Club. I wanted to thank them for inviting me and for the great dinner. It's always fun to talk about fishing, but the one thing that I really enjoy about this group of anglers that they too like to take kids fishing. I wish every fishing club in the country would do same thing and take a bunch of kids fishing who have never been fishing before, this world would be a better place. Thanks again for dinner last night and thanks for inviting me to speak to your club, it was lot of fun.

Oceanside Senior Anglers

I just wanted to thank Tim and all of the Oceanside Senior Anglers for inviting me to be a speaker for their December club meeting. A Very Special Christmas Show

This coming Saturday we will broadcast a very special Christmas episode that you'll not want to miss. We took 25 US Marine drill instructors fishing from San Diego Marine Depot. These guys had a great time and this was the 12th time that we have done this trip. We usually air this program for 4th of July but this year we thought it would be nice to do it as a Christmas Special. The guys really enjoyed the day off from the base and they caught a bunch of fish too. We couldn't do this trip if it wasn't for Chris Randall the skipper and owner of the Indian. The Indian operates daily out of H & M Landing in San Diego, CA. Please make sure you watch the very special program.

Thank You All

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped us this year. Without the help of so many great friends and partners we couldn't of put on the five great kids events that we did this year. Thanks to all of you thousands of kids and their families got to enjoy a great day of fishing at their local lakes. Thousands more got to try fishing for the first time. It's been a lot of work but at the end of the day it was worth it all. With your help I hope we can add one more lake event for next year! Thanks again,

El Dorado Park, Long Beach, CA Dan Hernandez Youth Event

Last saturday my youth foundation in partnership with the City of Long Beach and the California Dept. of Fish & Game hosted hosted a huge kid's fishing event at El Dorado Park. We over 1,720 kids sign in and i'm sure an other 300 or more didn't. We moved the lines as fast as we could but it did take some of the kid's a while to get through. These number don't include all the parents, friends and family members that were there with the kids too. I'd like to thanks all my helpers who showed up and helped us pull off this huge event.
This coming Saturday, Dec. 06th will be our next and last event for 2008. It will be at Legg Lake in South El Monte. Please make plans to join us.

Casino Night

Just wanted to remind you all that tomorrow night is our annual casino night fundraiser event for my youth foundation. For full details please visit our foundation website at www.danskids.org. All the money we raise will go to take kids fishing. Please join us tomorrow night in Long Beach.

Canada Trip

We just got back from our fishing trip to B.C.Canada, it was a great trip. We spent the first day taking a city tour and visiting an old cannery, I truly enjoyed that and having dinner with everyone that night. The next morning we were off to the resort and our fishing. Weather kept us from fishing the first day but everything else went great from there. I was lucky and landed the most salmon of the group and the largest ones too. I also landed the largest halibut on the trip too. all of our fish were taken using metal jigs, no live bait at all. We plan to be back here next year too so make plans to join us on the trip it's always a fun time. My next travel trip will be our Oct. trip to the East Cape, you can find out all the details on our website under charters and travel trips.
