More Cooking Segments Coming Your Way

Here's a little blog giving you a look at one of the products we'll be using this season in our cooking segments. Everyone needs one of these on their boat.

Yesterday we spent the day filming a bunch of new cooking segments which you all will see very soon in my TV fishing program, a few of them we filmed on my boat and a couple more we did at Off Street Cafe in Cerritos, CA. Here's a blog from yesterday.

OF THEIR NEWLY EXPANDED STORE IN LONG BEACH, CA

 

Festivities Set for March 15 through March, 17

“Cruising for a Cause” Fundraiser for Local Marine-Based Charities on

Friday, March 15 at 6 p.m.

 

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (February 20, 2013) - West Marine announced today the grand opening celebration of its newly expanded store in Long Beach, California from Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17. The newly enlarged location is located at 251 North Marina Drive in Long Beach with grand opening events taking place throughout the weekend.

 

Responding to the needs of local boaters and anglers, this store will be increased to over 13,000 square feet, featuring an engine parts counter, a bait shack with an expanded selection of saltwater fishing gear, a substantial assortment of inflatable boats, kayaks and the fastest growing water sport, stand-up paddle boards. For sailors in the Alamitos Bay area, the Long Beach store will have West Marine’s largest assortment of sailboat hardware, plus an expanded selection of core boating products and casual and technical apparel to help Customers enjoy a great day out on the water. 

 

Store Manager Dean Stanec has been with West Marine for 20 years and has over 35 years of experience on the water. At 8 years old, he started racing at the neighboring Seal Beach Yacht Club and has been sailing ever since. Now he enjoys cruising to Catalina Island on the family’s 32’ Beneteau.  There will be 25-35 Associates working at the Long Beach West Marine with over 725 years of combined boating, sailing and fishing experience.

 

“Cruising for a Cause,” a fundraiser to benefit local boating and fishing programs will be held on Friday, March 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the store. Tickets are $10 and available at the door or through the participating organizations. All proceeds will directly support these organizations and West Marine will donate 5% of sales on Friday as well.  Attendees will enjoy food, drinks and entertainment.

Fishing Season Is Almost Here

I just wanted to talk a little about the up coming fishing season, for the most part it start in early March when the rock fish season opens. There is fishing going on right now, there are halibut and sand bass to catch, even a few white sea bass and yellows have been coming in from the San Diego area this winter, most of my private fishing charters have been lobster fishing trips. Next month is also the Fred Hall Fishing Shows, there are not to be missed, the first one will be in Long Long Beach and the second will be two weeks later in Del Mar, here you'll find great deals on all kinds of fishing tackle. I can't wait for the water to warm up and the fishing action to get started. I'll See you all next moth at the Fred Hall Shows too.

Lobster report for Feb 10th

I had a another lobster charter last night, fishing was only OK, we ended the night with six legals and lots of crabs. bait was salmon heads and we fished in 35 feet of water. This was a fun group to fish with, the guys fished really hard, I just wish I could of found more legal size lobster for them. As a rule Feb is the best month of the year to fish for lobsters so get out there and try it, or call me and book a private lobster charter with me.
