Fishing report from last Saturday's private charter

We left the dock at 7AM and everything felt fine, after picking up some live bait from Nacho it was off to the fishing grounds. I thought it might take a little time before the fish would bit since it was at the end of low tide when we started fishing. I was right, it took us about 45 minutes to hook our first fish of the day and then they started to bite pretty good. we had several small bass and a shark and then we landed a huge sand bass, it was close to 10 pounds! a huge fish. after that the wind really picked up and we have to run inside the harbor to get away from the wind, even inside the harbor we had white caps. We spent the last few hours close to one of the oil islands picking away at small bass, both calico and sand bass, I'm glad my charter group understood there was nothing I could of about the weather. This Thursday we have a fishing/ filming trip aboard the Sea Star, that trip is sold out, but we do have room on our June 10th trip aboard the Native Son out of Long Beach.

Open Party Trip On Monday May 28th

I'm going to open up Monday May 28th for an open party trip, cost is $160.00 PP. This is going to be a half -day trip fishing for bass, halibut and hopefully a white sea bass. This open party trip is limited to four (4) anglers. This is a great trip for anyone who'd like to learn more about fishing. Fish are biting!

Hve you all checked out the fishing reports over the weekend? The fish are starting to bite everywhere, San Diego boats had both yellowtail and barracuda, the Long Beach boats reported everything biting, white sea bass, barries and calicos too. Up in the channel Island they are getting a good mix of fish too. I know it's
early, but with all this warm weather, this could be a great fishing season! Get out there on the water on your boat and if you don't have one join us for one of our trips or book a private fishing charter with me. I'll see you out there on the water!

Open for Private Charters for next Weekend

Next Saturday May 26th and Sunday the 27th are all booked up for private fishing charters. I'm now open for a private fishing charter for Monday May 28th. If nobody books it over the weekend I'll open it up for an open party trip limited to four (4) anglers. We depart out of Long Beach and will be fishing, bass, halibut and hopefully barracuda. Chollas Park Kids Event Recap

The weather was as hot as the fishing action for our free kids fishing event at Chollas Park in San Diego over the weekend. We had around 250 kids, plus their families for our free kids fishing event last Saturday at Chollas Park in SD. There were lots of catfish stocked in the lake for this event and they were hungry, many of the kids were able to catch their limit. Thank you all that helped us put on this great event and thanks to all the parents for bring their kids to this event. Our next free kids with event will be at MacArthur Park in Downtown LA on June 9th. Check our our website, www.danskids.org for details.

Barracude are Biting!!!!

I just got off the phone with Greg Watson, skipper of the Sea Angler and told me that the local boats are getting a good number of barracuda today and that the fish are still biting!!!! He has a charter tomorrow and will be calling me with an update. Also boats are far south as San Diego are also reporting a good bit on the barries.

A few things to share with you

First off tonight I'm at the Sport Chalet store in Chino Hills for a free fishing seminar, seminar starts at 6PM. This Saturday May 12th we'll be hosting a free kids fishing event in SD at Chollas Park. These are always great events and it's always nice to meet you all. Then there is this.....

We are going to try something new for us. Some of you have been asking me to hold more family type events where people in your family who don't fish can still come out and hang out with me, so I'm going to give this a try. On Monday June 11th me and the guys at Turner's Outdoorsman will be going to watch the Dodgers play against the Angles and you're all invited to join us. The Fish Are Starting To Bite

Finally the fish are starting to bite. I've been checking a lot of the message boards and I'm finally seeing consent reports of fish eating baits, in San Diego and Ensenada the yellowtail are biting and few have even been landed in Long Beach area, private boaters have been getting halibut for a while now and I've seen good reports on sand bass along the breakwater and the local rock piles. I know it's not wide-open tuna action, but I'm hoping we see that in July, for now it's time to go fishing a try for a bass, halibut or a yellowtail and if you get really lucky you might even land a white sea bass.

Report from our fishing tackle swap meet

I just wanted to thanks everyone who attended our fishing tackle swap meet over the weekend, we had over 25 vendors and lots of people showed up to buy fishing tackle, we even gave tours of your production offices for my TV program and showed off our "Tackle Box" filming set. Thank you all for making this a great event.

Fishing Tackle Swap Meet

Our youth foundation will be hosting a fishing tackle swap meet this Sunday in Cerritos. The address is 11138 Business Circle, Cerritos, CA 90703. It's free to attend, but it does cost $35.00 per space to sell. We also will be giving tours of our filming set where we film all of our "Tackle Box" segments. Lincoln Park Free Kids Event Report

We had around 250 kids for our free kids fishing event at Lincoln Park in ELA. The weather was perfect, maybe a little too warm for the trout, but many of the kids caught fish and for most of them it was their first fish ever. After the fishing was over all the kids got a free mael and we raflled off several nice prizes, including three bikes.
